Queen Candidates

Izzy Martinez
Izzy Martinez, is 17 years old and was born in Olathe, Kansas. This year, she is a Senior at Olathe West High School and plans to major in Elementary Education in college next year. Izzy has been riding horses for 10 years and currently has three horses that she does Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, and Breakaway Roping with. With them, she competes in the National Barrel Horse Association, Better Barrel Races, 4H, and local rodeos. Outside of the arena, Izzy spends her free time volunteering at her old Elementary school, drawing, reading, or hanging out with her family and friends. Izzy is so incredibly thankful to be here this weekend, and is excited for the opportunity to run for the Chanute Rodeo Queen.
Princess Candidates

Creed Haarhuis
Creed Haarhuis, a 14-year-old eighth grader at Prince of Peace Catholic School. Guided by her Catholic faith, she strives to live each day with kindness, compassion, and integrity. When she's not in the arena, Creed enjoys theater, voice lessons, piano, and photography. She has been riding horses for six years and is the proud owner of three Quarter Horses: Cardi, a 6-year-old bay roan; Lucky, a 7-year-old buckskin dun; and Journey, a 17-year-old flea-bitten gray. Through showing, rodeo, and caring for her horses, Creed has developed responsibility, patience, perseverance, and the importance of building trust with her equine partners. She is thankful for the friendships and opportunities her faith, horses, and the performing arts have given her and is excited to continue growing as both a horsewoman and a young leader. Creed is honored to represent the future of rodeo and the values that make this community so special.
Sweetheart Candidates

Lyla Wood
Lyla Wood, is the 5-year-old daughter of Caleb and Makayla Wood of Chanute, Kansas. Lyla attends Chanute Christian Academy and is excited to experience her very first year involved in rodeo. Lyla stays busy with gymnastics, soccer, tee ball, singing, and collecting feathers. She describes herself as smart, sweet, and kind and especially loves helping others when they are hurt and sharing her toys. Lyla is excited to learn more about rodeo and the western way of life. When she grows up, she dreams of taking care of animals on a farm, babysitting, and, of course, being a cowgirl! With her kind heart, sweet personality, and excitement for new adventures, Lyla is looking forward to making memories and having fun during her first
